Before we actually do anything, we always have an expectation. Our expectation can oftentimes affect our results. If you go into something expecting to fail or for things to not go well, then that is likely what will happen. But, if you go into something expecting to succeed and for things to go well, the outcome will probably be more favorable. It’s a pretty simple concept. Our mindset about something affects how we think about it, the decisions we make, our confidence and how others perceive us.
Having good expectations doesn’t guarantee that everything will be perfect, go well or even succeed at all. However, if you don’t have the right, positive expectation for your circumstances and decisions, then who will? I think expectation and self confidence are linked closely. Don’t cut yourself short by having low (or no) expectation. Expect good things. Expect success. Expect for things to go well. Don’t be the reason that something fails before it ever starts. Your expectation may not always produce the results you’re hoping for, but if you’re expecting good things the outcome will be positive more times than if you go into things expecting failure.
What are your expectations?
